Ganked from ~
midnightgem from A LONG TIME AGO, I finally finished this.
Write out the names of your characters and explain:
1.) How you thought of their name.
2.) What made you create the character in the first place.
3.) How the character has changed over time (If they have changed).
4.) Any random fun fact about that character.
*and like ~
midnightgem and `
delya* - Watchers can ask about other characters' names if they wanna know about 'em :]
1) Mr. Phillip Happy1. When you draw a completely grumpy person, who wouldnt want to give them a completely ironic name? I dont know why I named him Phillip, though.
2. Mr. Happy was originally supposed to be a dinosaur that I would draw for leisure.
3. First Mr. Happy was a dinosaur, then he became a substitute teacher, and now hes an actual Biology teacher at Tilfers high school. However, I liked it when he was still a dinosaur, so I gave him the ability to transform into one. Mr. Happy used to be all-out grumpy, mean, unfair and extremely anti-social. Today, hes still grumpy but hes more loose and tolerant
A LITTLE. I wanted him to be like how new students would see him at first: grouchy, mean, always giving tons of hard tests and Fs on papers even if theyre high quality. But in the end, the students would see him as a fair and very skilled teacher who knows his material and tries his best to help students reach their potential, although hes still cranky.
4. Many people do not know this, but Mr. Happy really does like his job. It was a huge improvement after working part-time at Abercrombie & Fitch with his cousin.
2) Tilfer Hamers1. If I told you, you would be offended. No seriously. You would. Especially if youre German. But I have already said too much.
2. This was during the time I found out about sparkledogs and their massive popularity over the internet. Outraged and disgusted, I wanted to create a normal but still recognizable dog just out of a whim. But he had an accessory (the hoodie) so that kinda adds to the sparkledog biz. My mistake.
3. Like Mr. Happy, Tilfer used to be an animal before officially becoming human. And like his teacher, I didnt want to get rid of his dog form, so I gave it to Tilfer as an ability to transform into one.
4. Because of his transformation into a dog, Tilfer has several personality traits like a dog: playful, cheery, and prone to eating his homework.
3) Jack Hill1. I like nursery rhymes, so I thought Id create some characters with the same names as some recognizable characters from those rhymes and fairytales.
2. Being a hardcore fan of Endlings EverAfter, I wanted to create some fan characters of my own. And thus, Jack and Jill came into existence.
3. Jack used to be a fan character of EverAfter and as such was originally mentally insane who is able to control his scarf (he had two scarf arms before). However, as time passed, he didnt appeal to me as much as I wanted to, so I decided to revamp him as a cheery explorer-type character. He became sane, a charismatic gentleman, and a responsible big brother to Jill.
4. To this day, I still dont know why I keep Jacks shackles on his wrist. But I never got rid of them because he seemed so incomplete without them.
4) Jill Hill1. Same as number one for Jack.
2. Same as number two for Jack.
3. Jill, like her brother, used to be mentally insane. She was fidgety and almost always twitching with fear. However, like Jack, she didnt appeal to me enough, but I didnt want to forget her, so I decided to change her a bit. She has now become more happy-go-lucky, naïve, hyperactive, and bipolar, which makes her a nice foil character to her otherwise calm big brother. Although she is only half as sane as shes supposed to be.
4. I honestly dont know why she still keeps her left bang over her eye.
5) Rosalivia1. Her name is a combination of two of my favorite names: Rosalina and Olivia. Simple enough.
2. She was originally supposed to be an opposite of Cupid. Her only job was to break hearts. I AM SO CREATIVE.
3. Rosie here used to be a mysterious anti-hero, like Shadow the Hedgehog in a way. She was quiet, serious, and stern. However, when I decided to make her a villain, I simply went crazy on her personality. Inspired by Darla Dimple, my chemistry teacher, and my own sister, she became much looser and became one of my most comedic female characters in less than a month. One thing hasnt changed though: Her headband and ribbon. They have stayed the same for four years.
4. Despite trying to keep a reputation of being a cruel dictator, she is mellower than one thinks she is, just like my own sister.
6) Etahis Terajest1. Hahaha, I had such a fun experience coming up with his name. His name is simply an anagram of one of my oldest and most dead characters (drawn only once): Shiate. Shiate came from my Japanese-obsessed mind from about five years ago when I thought that it sounded Japanese. It sounds more like profanity if you ask me. His last name is an altered version of "jester".
2. I wanted a butler-type and foil character for Rosie. However, I wanted him to be nothing like people have seen before. I mean, come on, people. How many snobby butlers have you seen look like clowns?
3. Etahis has remained pretty much the same: stoic, rather snobbish, and gentlemen-like. But actually, as time passed, I realized that if hes going to get along with anybody on the flagship, hed have to be somewhat nice. Like nice enough to want to do activities with them and try to have a nice time, no matter how ridiculous/dangerous they are.
4. Etahis likes polka music.
7) Lymphia Cyteus1. For those who know their biology, the word lymphocyte should be familiar. If not, theyre known as the white blood cells within our bodies that destroy bacteria. Having learned about the immune system shortly after Lyms creation, I wanted to give her a name that suits her. I already had her as an authoritative general for Rosa who wants to destroy the filth that dare to defy her mistress, and thus I modified lymphocyte to make Lymphia Ctyeus. As for Lyms real name: Muriel Linda Hayes, I have no idea how I got that name.
2. I wanted someone who can control Rosas huge army, a general of sorts. And being the weird person I am, I wanted each character to have some peculiar trait about them that can make them stand out a bit, so why not have a formal and dignified woman of African descent? We all know that in the past, those people have been stereotyped as dumb, vulgar, and poor, so I thought this would be a good chance to twist that rather unfair stereotype. I just hope that no one finds me as racist, though. DD8
3. Lymphia is like Etahis in a way. She used to be more uptight than Etahis. She still is, but she now has a few hidden soft spots such as experiencing loneliness, though that is rare.
4. Lymphias favorite food varies between baked pastries and cakes.
8) Sheila1. Ive no idea how I came up with Sheila (do I sense a trend?). Her name was originally going to be an anagram of Mary-Sue because I wanted Sheila to be almost like a Mary-Sue: kind, sweet, and almost perfect with no flaws but in reality, she is a terrifying and heartless monster with no real personality, which ironically is how we view many Mary-Sues. But instead, I chose Sheila because I thought it seemed nicer, and that no one else has used very much, and that I didnt have to work so much coming up with an anagram of Mary-Sue, hahaha.
2. The first place
hmm. She, like Shiate, is one of my oldest and most dead characters. She was merely practice to draw strange creatures. Her first picture showed a large influence from Lydia, the famous female character from the Beetlejuice cartoon series.
3. Sheila hasnt changed much. Shes a total naïve, idiotic, and much too cheery character who serves as Rosas very capable mechanic of the flagship.
4. Sheila has no idea who or what she is. Her secondary split personality as a monster vanished when she hit her head on Rosas ship as she drifted through space.
9) Filbert Cocinamor1. HUM! Lets see
how did I come up with his name
? Its not like coming up with it, really. Its more like RESEARCHING LIKE CRAZY, HOCRAP. While thinking about adding in new characters to Rosas crew, I wanted someone whos like
the total opposite of what she wants in a crew member. Like I dont know: LOVING? BWAHAHAH. I wanted to find a name that can match the new guy, so I searched for English (not American) names that meant love. I chose Filbert because it sounded very pleasant and sweet, and it was the only name that was genuinely for a guy (the rest were unisex), hahaha. And as for his last name, I think I already explained it before, but if you don't know, just comment and I'll tell you.
2. I wanted to come up with a cook for Rosas crew. WHO DOESNT WANT A COOK FOR A CREW?
3. Our dear Fil has changed immensely, and Im not just talking about himself in his story. Im sure that most of you remember what sort of personality I used to give him. Im honestly too embarrassed to describe his old personality, but I can tell you for sure that as I drew him more, he became more of the lovable and sweet guy he is today
like a marshmallow. xD
4. I used to think that he would sound like Alexander Rybak, but I found out that Michael Bubles voice fits perfectly. IM SO INDECISIVE, HOORAY FOR ME.
10) Dr. Harold Ivan Veerous1. I just learned about viruses and I wanted to make a cool scientist thats also a freakish creature. When we were learning about HIV at that time, I was wondering if I could put in actual names with the same initials as HIV. I am a very cruel person and I am sorry if I have offended anybody who actually has HIV. :[ His middle name used to be Igor, but I honestly still didnt like that name, so I went with Ivan because it sounded nicer and I also blame my Hetalia obsession.
2. Rosas crew needed a sort of medic/scientist. EH? EH? EH? Plus, Ive always wanted to make a character thats composed of a slime-like substance.
3. Design-wise, Dr. HIV stayed the same, except that he used to have visible pupils in his glasses, but I decided to take them off to present him with a more non-humanoid appearance. However, his personality as a stuttering, nervous, and lonely scientist remained the same. I also recently gave him a small Russian accent. Because we all know that Russian accents are cool.
4. Dr. HIV can clone himself by dividing himself, but this also means that his clones and he are smaller than his original size.
GEEZ! That was much longer than it should have been. If you managed to read the entire thing, I salute you. If you guys want to know about any of my other characters (just in case you do), I'll tell you.
