Anime Screenshot Tutorial by BechnoKid Anime Screenshot Tutorial by BechnoKid
Tutorial for

First tutorial in a long time. People asked how I did this and HERE YA GO. Please note that there really is no RIGHT WAY to create a fake anime screenshot. You'll need to observe, OBSERVE, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, OBSERVE.

This is merely my method of how I render fake screenshots, so please feel free to mess around with whatever tips I give you in here.

Got any more questions? See some typos? Are things here just as confusing as figuring out how Frosty the Snowman came to life? Please ask and I'll try to give you the best answer and fix mistakes the best I can. C8 Thanks for coming!

Useful tutorial! I never considered adding a blurred overlay of the image could be used so effectively. I'll have to remember to use this trick sometime. A couple of corrections I would like to add, though:

- The brush size values you give are meaningless without knowing the dimensions of the image. A 5px brush can have a relatively different size for big or small pics.
- In the second-last step, you state that you need to merge and copy all layers to produce a duplicate of the image. You can do this simply by highlighting all layers in the Layers palette and pressing CTRL+ALT+E to create a merged copy at the top of the layer stack.

Also, would you mind sharing the grain texture you used? I don't seem to have it in the default patterns.

If you want it to be realistic, you should add the subtitles before start blurring and giving it a bad quality, cause the subtitles are part of the video and should be of a bad quality too !
spoongal Featured By Owner Edited Feb 13, 2015  Hobbyist General Artist
not really,
usually the video is raw and you have to download the subtitles separately
(if you're watching a series online that's a completely different story tho)
